The Ecolimo GS450h is powered by a 3.5-litre petrol V6 and two 147kW electric motors and boasts impressive fuel economy, low emissions and quietness with high performance. It has 22 per cent more power than the most powerful model in the Australian Lexus range and its combined fuel-consumption is 7.9 litres/100km. In July this year, the Australian Government Green Vehicle Guide awarded the Lexus GS450h a prestigious 4 and 1/2-star rating, placing the car alongside 1.8-litre/100kW vehicles. Ecolimo’s founder Don Pyke has more than 20 years as a professional driver and he says it shouldn’t cost more to choose the green alternative because his service is priced to be competitive with other limousine or hire-car companies. ”People who care about the environment and are interested in reducing their impact on it can feel confident they have made a good choice without compromising quality or comfort,” Pyke says. LPG
LPG cars’ greenhouse emissions are about 15 per cent less than in petrol cars. LPG costs about half the price of petrol and Federal Government incentives can take up to $4000 off the car’s price, depending on the model.
As a gas, LPG doesn’t produce land and water pollution and Australia has an abundant supply of LPG. There are negatives though. LPG is less efficient than petrol. For example: an LPG Falcon uses 15.1L/100km compared with 10.7L/100km for the petrol model. LPG versions are also more expensive than their petrol equivalents - the Ford minimally so ($1400) but for the LPG-powered Commodore the price difference is almost $4000.

- 20% surcharge applies for pick ups between 11:00PM and 5:00AM.
- Parking fee applies for all airport pick ups
- A $15.00 surcharge applies for international terminal pick up for the first 60 minutes of waiting from 20 minutes after the flight lands. Further waiting will result in an extra charge based on the hourly rate.

Australian Pioneers
Ecolimo pioneered the introduction of environmentally friendlier hire car and limousine services in Australia. Established in Melbourne in 2006 we started out with the luxurious hybrid Lexus GS450H which produces 45% less CO2 emissions than a standard limousine. A Carbon Neutral Company
Still, we wanted to offer an even more environmentally friendly choice and although the Toyota Prius fit the bill, the size of the Prius wheel base did not comply with State laws applied to the hire car industry in both NSW and Victoria.
Never one to turn our back on a challenge, Ecolimo lobbied governments in NSW and Victoria to change the law as it no longer reflected community sentiments. Finally in late 2007 the law was changed in NSW enabling Ecolimo to create an even greener choice hire car and limousine service for environmentally discerning Sydneysiders.
And so in January 2008, for the first time ever in Australia, the Toyota Prius was used officially as a hire car by Ecolimo.
Following the change in regulation in NSW, we knew that it was only a matter of time before Victoria followed suit and when it did in June 2008, we promptly added two Prius to our Melbourne fleet. After all, we didn’t want anyone to think we were playing favourites.

Q. How do the cars work
A. Regenerative Braking. The electric motor applies resistance to the drivetrain causing the wheels to slow down. In return, the energy from the wheels turns the motor, which functions as a generator, converting energy normally wasted during coasting and braking into electricity, which is stored in a battery until needed by the electric motor. Electric Motor Drive/Assist. The electric motor provides additional power to assist the engine in accelerating, passing, or hill climbing. Automatic Start/Shutoff. Automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop and restarts it when the accelerator is pressed. This prevents wasted energy from idling.
Q. How much luggage can we carry
A. We can accommodate 2 full size pieces of luggage in the Lexus as well as 2 smaller pieces. While believe it or not the same amount or more will fit in the ‘tardus’ like Prius .

A. We accept all the major cards , Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Diners and also accept Cabcharge. Also Eft payment prior to travel. We do not have a surcharge on cards. Please note that Cabcharge Cards attract a ten percent surcharge.

For a small surcharge Ecolimo offers the Lexus GS450h luxury sports sedan, an electric/petrol hybrid. Importantly, the Lexus GS450h produces 45% less carbon emissions than the average limousine. The Hybrid Synergy Drive consists of a 3.5-litre all-aluminium V-6, producing 292-horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, and two electric motors; providing a quiet stress-free trip to the airport and around town.
How are the hybrid cars able to save on emissions?
Regenerative Braking. The electric motor applies resistance to the drivetrain causing the wheels to slow down. In return, the energy from the wheels turns the motor, which functions as a generator, converting energy normally wasted during coasting and braking into electricity, which is stored in a battery until needed by the electric motor. Electric Motor Drive/Assist. The electric motor provides additional power to assist the engine in accelerating, passing, or hill climbing. Automatic Start/Shutoff. Automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop and restarts it when the accelerator is pressed. This prevents wasted energy from idling.
